Khao Sok Travel Guide

Located in the Surat Thani province, Khao Sok is one of Thailand’s largest national park. Part of the park includes the largest area of untouched forest in Thailand, including a rainforest that boasts more diversity than the Amazon Rainforest.

Getting to Khao Sok is a bit tricky as there isn’t a nearby airport, and is located about 100km from the centre of Surat Thani. However, there are several minivans that can take to the park, which can be organised through most travel agents in the area.

The history of the park is fascinating, especially as its incredible preservation is due to Communism! During the 1960s, the jungle was used by Communists to hide from the government. The caves and the huge amount of thick greenery create plenty of places to hide!

The park itself is an incredible place to visit, especially if you enjoy getting back to nature! The park organises loads of great things to do in the park, including jeep safaris, canoeing which will ensure that you experience Khao Sok up close and personal. Don’t feel rushed for time, as there is plenty of accommodation within the park, which allows you to take your time and experience everything the park has to give!

The scenery that Khao Sok creates is simply mesmerising; the huge limestone mountains, deep valleys, caves and lakes leave you short of time if you wish to see it all.

Khao Sok is an incredible holiday destination for any family, it has so much to offer in terms of learning, and new experiences. So be sure to make the journey, although it may be rather arduous, once you get there, you’ll never want to leave.
